Parallel is a free-to-play trading card game (TCG) set in a vast sci-fi universe where five human factions are all fighting for control over Earth 10,000 years in the future.

Each faction is referred to as a Parallel in the game and offers players a vastly different experience in how to fight battles as well as the card mechanics to master.

In our previous guide we looked at the Marcolians and how to play their cards to help the Marcolians become the most dominant race within the Parallel universe.

This time around we’re diving into the mysterious cloning world of the Kathari where you’ll learn all about the lore for this race and what makes this Parallel so unique.

We’ll also take you on a journey where you’ll learn about the three different heroes for the Kathari race and the strategies to use when playing with them.

And lastly, you’ll also learn about some of the core Kathari cards in the game so you can start to build your own decks and test them out in battle. Let's get started!

Who are the Kathari?

After a catastrophic fallout on Earth forced humanity to flee in search of a new planet to call home, the Kathari found refuge on the icy Jupiter moon of Europa.

With temperatures on Europa reaching extreme lows of -220 degrees Celsius the Kathari knew that their civilization needed to adapt in order to survive such conditions.

Europa’s surface was incapable of supporting life so the Kathari burrowed deep into the moon where they built an underground cryogenic city called Sepulii.

This sprawling metropolis of tunnels, state-of-the-art research facilities and cloning labs were constructed all with the purposes of advancing the survivability of their race.

And as millennia came and went, the Kathari endlessly spliced and diced their genetic code making themselves less and less human with each adaptation but much more suited to hostile environments.

However, after thousands of years playing God the Kathari now face a genetic crisis which threatens to wipe them out and they believe their hopes of survival rest with a recently awakened power back on Earth that they are willing to obtain at any cost.

What is the Kathari strategy?

The scientific wonders of genetic adaptation and cloning are the foundations upon which the Kathari race has evolved its people into the civilization that stands today.

As such, their numbers are vast and producing more clones when needed can be done with relative ease and speed after perfecting the process over the past 10,000 years.

This numerical advantage and the ability to replenish their numbers quickly is the Kathari’s main strength and will be your best strategy to find victory on the battlefield.

Pick a Paragon

The Kathari are a cold, hardened race mirroring the harsh reality of the moon they live on and their strength relies on an endless supply of genetically altered humans.

Kathari soldiers are considered largely expendable as they can be replaced just as quickly as they die and the Kathari have even discovered a way to rebirth the fallen.

In-game you will have three different heroes or ‘Paragons’ to choose from when playing with the Kathari and each Paragon requires a slightly different approach to get the best out of their abilities and your cards.

Aetio, Exalted Hydrolist

Aetio is the most gifted scientific mind of the Kathari. Hailed for her radical breakthroughs in the cloning efforts and advancing the Kathari race leaps and bounds.

As a Paragon she has the passive ability to waste cards in the controlling player’s deck with the end goal to play her latest clone creation once the deck is empty.

This monstrosity inherits the sum of all stats and keywords from units in the waste and Evasive attacks the opponent making Aetio a scientist to be feared in battle!

Active

Muster: If your deck is empty, create and play Aetio's Iterant with Evasive and the sum of all attack, health and keywords of units in your waste. Aetio's Iterant immediately attacks the enemy.

Passive

The first time each turn a friendly Kathari unit enters the field, waste the top card of your deck.

Gnaeus Valerus Alpha

Warriors are born on the battlefield but for the Kathari they are born in a pod. Gnaeus represents the Kathari’s best fighter and he bears the scars to prove it too.

As a Paragon, Gnaeus can buff up to three units when he attacks but his powerful passive ability also gives units +1/+1 to attack and health when any friendly unit deals combat damage and survives, making a Gnaeus deck an endless threat in battles!

Active

On attack, up to 3 other target friendly units have +1/+2 this turn.

Passive

At the end of your turn, if a friendly unit dealt combat damage and survived, that unit gains +1/+1.

Scipius Magnus Alpha

Resembling more alien than human, Scipius has spent thousands of years in pod hibernation serving as the template for the Kathari’s genetic advancement program.

As a Paragon he has the passive ability of creating a 0/1 token after another unit is banked and the player does not already control that same token.

Scipius also has the power to trigger all Muster abilities that the player has activated in the game, bringing his altered abilities together to create carnage for the opponent.

Active

Muster: Trigger all Muster abilities that you have activated this game with targets chosen randomly.

Passive

After you bank a unit, create a 0/1 Scipius' Adjutant if you don't already control one.

Beginner Decks

The beauty of a game like Parallel is that there are no right or wrong decks to play with as you are offered the freedom to use your imagination and experiment with different card combinations to see what works well and what works maybe not so well for you.

Parallel provides a deck building starter point for newcomers to their game in the form of Starter Decks which are a standardised set of 40 digital collectible cards for each of the five Parallels in the game.

These Starter Decks are an excellent introduction to some of the ‘core’ cards but with every Starter Deck for a specific Parallel consisting of exactly the same cards and also missing some key ones too it will only get you so far in competitive play.

To better assist on your journey into this game we’ve created our own beginner Decks combining our experience and expertise to give you the best possible start in Parallel.

These Beginner Decks introduce you to a wider selection of cards that will remain competitive and relevant in the long-run and are available for you to play with through the Paragons Alliance. Let’s begin!
